Medi-Cal Changes for Older Adults and People with Disabilities
New Medi-Cal Asset Limits Starting January 1, 2026
When you apply for or renew your Medi-Cal benefits, Alameda County Social Services Agency (ACSSA) will review what you own and conduct an asset check. Assets are things you own that have value, such as cash, bank accounts, or more than one house.
Not everyone enrolled in Medi-Cal will be affected by this change. If the asset check applies to you, it will take place during your annual Medi-Cal renewal. The income eligibility rules for Medi-Cal have not changed.
